Message from the President
It is November already!
November has several good standing deadlines. Two have already passed by on November 1. The 990 tax report to the IRS is due no later than November 15 and confirmation of that filing is due to Tennessee PTA no later than November 20.
National PTA has refreshed the National standards for Family and School Partnerships. Please join the townhall meeting on November 17, at 7 PM Eastern. Register at https://forms.gle/Jv6FxDvRneHnWiwx8. Find more information on page 6 of this newsletter.
This year National PTA is introducing a new membership program: Membership Mania. Local PTAs can stay connected and in the know throughout the school year by joining Membership Mania. This is a fun and interactive year-round journey that is easy and flexible. PTAs can participate in two calls and weekly emails spread across the entire school year. There are no minimum requirements, leaders only do what they can. Sign up today to join this program to strengthen membership together.
Save the date of April 21-23, 2023 for the Tennessee PTA Annual Meeting and Convention to be held in Franklin, Tennessee. Have your PTA unit budgets reflect sending a delegate to convention. This is a legitimate PTA expense! Please consider submitting a resolution for consideration. Find more information on page 7 of the newsletter.
We are advocacy. PTA was founded as an advocacy association. Read our PTA Mission statement—you will find the word advocate in the statement. What other parent-teacher association has been around for 125 years advocating for children and youth? Not one single organization beyond PTA. PTA is all of us.
We are PTA!
Dwight Hunter
President, Tennessee PTA
