The secretary is the most exciting position on any board and serves as an invaluable aide to the president and the PTA. The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate records of the board of managers and the executive meetings. The secretary is responsible to insure that the latest bylaws and audit reports are kept. Remember these records will be the history of the PTA.

Basic Duties
Maintains an accurate record of the minutes of all meetings.
Maintains record of PTA membership within the local unit.
Calls meetings to order in the absence of the president and vice president unless bylaws specify otherwise.
Conducts correspondence of the association.
Furnishes delegates with credentials.
Works closely with president on “order of business” before meetings.
Notifies officers, committee members, and delegates of their election to office.
Sends out notices of Executive Committee meetings and of general meetings other than those announced.
Is responsible for notifying the State PTA Office of newly elected officers.
